Bitlizard is a favorite user id of mine that I began using when, moving from Compuserve to AOL in the days before the www, I found that my “bitwizard” id was already taken. BitWizard (the ‘bit’ a reference to my assembly language ability) now seems a bit unseemly – a bit too self congratulatory and bragging. The remedy was to replace a single letter coming up with the name BitLizard. Not only does this have an uncomfortable visceral connotation, it also has a bit of Jim Morrison-esque edginess. Perfect….

So I use bitlizard as an id in forums and newsgroups. My use of the id stretches back over 15 years or so and I’ve come to identify with it.
